Aha! Knowledge | Knowledge base access

Your knowledge base is an important resource for the people who use your product — but that does not mean that everyone needs access to it. Configure authentication for your knowledge base to make it public or require a password.

This article discusses functionality that is included in the Aha! Knowledge Advanced plan. Please contact us if you would like a live demo or want to try using it in your account.

Configure authentication

Customization admins can configure authentication for your knowledge base from its settings.

  • From your knowledge base's parent document in your workspace, navigate to Settings.

  • Next to Authentication, select Public or Password from the dropdown.

    • If you select Password, enter the password you would like to use in the Password field.

Public access

If you have chosen Public access, anyone who has the URL to your knowledge base will be able to view it. This option is best for knowledge bases that serve a broad audience and do not share any proprietary information.

Password access

If you have chosen to protect your knowledge base with a password, visitors will need the password you set for your knowledge base in order to access it. This password can be changed any time by a customizations admin — so if you forget or lose the password, it can easily be reset.

SSO

You can enable Single Sign-On (SSO) for your knowledge base. You can also share an SSO configuration between a knowledge base and an ideas portal.

Your ideas knowledge base supports single sign-on (SSO) through the use of SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, or JSON web token (JWT). Any option provides a great way to automatically authenticate knowledge base visitors and grant them access.

Once you're ready to establish an SSO connection, follow along with either of the following articles as you move through the SSO settings.

If you select SAML 2.0, you can also make use of the following integrations:
