What we are building at Aha! is unique. We exchange meaningful value through our work and interactions with others. But those interactions do not just end with customers and teammates. We view ourselves as morally obligated to assist those who are not as fortunate as we are. And we know that our lives are better when we do. We are building caring communities.
This is why we established Aha! Cares, a unique philanthropic program for corporate giving. We focus on providing food, safety, shelter, and opportunity to those in need around the world. We are inspired by how hard community-based organizations work to support those most in need. And we understand how nonprofits typically operate — lean with small annual budgets and staffs.
Remote work amplifies giving
As an entirely distributed company, we are in a unique position to make a global impact. Our team spans eight countries, over half of the states in the U.S., and almost 90 cities worldwide. So we designed Aha! Cares with multiple ways to give.
The annual financial contributions we make are based on recommendations from the team. We created a model that is employee-driven so that teammates can champion nonprofits in their own local communities. They are encouraged to advocate for nonprofits that focus on people’s basic needs: food, safety, shelter, and opportunity.
We have supported almost 80 organizations and donated nearly $1M to people in need through Aha! Cares. We plan to increase the amount annually as we continue to rapidly grow and hope that the success of our program will inspire your company to set up your own program.
The Aha! Fellowship is an eight-week training program designed to help people from historically underrepresented groups gain valuable skills in entrepreneurship, product management, and customer success. All fellows receive a monthly stipend of $4,200 so they can focus their full attention on learning and connecting. By sharing our product building expertise, we aim to increase people's access to meaningful opportunities in technology.
All Aha! teammates are encouraged to take an annual paid community service day. It can be used to support the nonprofit they are championing for financial support. Or it can be another community organization that helps those most in need in the city they live in.
We hold all-company gatherings twice each year. (We call these "onsites.") Whenever we are in a location where it is logistically possible, we volunteer at local nonprofits. We have planted vegetables in community gardens, stocked food pantries, and performed maintenance at a domestic violence shelter.
Discounts for nonprofits
We recognize that nonprofits are critical to the health of our global communities. We offer eligible nonprofits a 30 percent discount on annual plans. And of course, our nonprofit customers receive the same level of ultra-responsive support as for-profit customers.
More value for all
