Improvements

  • Aha! Scorecards have been updated with more options for feature prioritization and backlog management with the addition of three new sequence types - the Fibonacci Sequence, the Powers of 2, and Custom. Each option enables a greater non-linear scale so as the score grows, the numbers become further and further apart resulting in easier decision making.

    • The Fibonacci Sequence is a series of numbers where each number is the sum of the previous two (0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89,144...).

    • The Powers of 2 is another exponential series of numbers where each number is two times greater than the previous (0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128...).

    • The Custom option allows you to define your own scale.

  • Application and idea portal search queries have been updated to include the following new syntax options providing for better search results:

    • Prefix search - Appending a * to a word will search for all words that include the prefix. This allows for distinguishing between exact match versus prefix match results.

      • Example search query 1: author* - will find matches for records containing author, authorize, authorization, authority, etc.

      • Example search query 2: APP-12 - will find matches to APP-12 only and not APP-121, APP-122, APP-1231, etc.

    • Combining words - The application and idea portals have different default operations. Two or more words in a search query for the application are an implied AND relationship meaning returned results will include all words. Two or more words in an idea portal search query are an implied OR relationship to make it more likely that related ideas are found meaning it will return results that contain at least one of the words. New boolean operators for combining words allow you more control over the outcome of the search results regardless of where the search is being performed. The new boolean operators include AND, OR, and NOT and can be combined with parenthesis.

      • Example search query 1: dashboard OR report - will find records that contain reference to either dashboard or report.

      • Example search query 2: dashboard AND report - will find records that contain reference to both dashboard and report.

      • Example search query 3: dashboard NOT report - will find records that contain dashboard but do not contain report.

      • Example search query 4: (dashboard OR report) editor - will find records that contain either dashboard or report and must also contain editor.

    • Please note the following:

      • Boolean operators need to be upper case

      • The search engine does not support phrase queries. A search on "dashboard report" will be converted into an AND query.
