Editor's note: Aha! Notebooks has been split into Aha! Knowledge and Aha! Whiteboards.

If you are like us, you always want to build and ship what customers will actually use. It is why you lead with strategy, embrace customer feedback, and prioritize what to build based on value delivered. Our driving force is creating software that empowers you at every stage of product development.

In Q3 we introduced functionality across our product suite to help you gain valuable customer insights, streamline collaboration, and stay focused on the highest-value work.

We continue to leverage the power of AI across our suite of products to help you work smarter. The ability to access recent prompts in the AI writing assistant makes it easy to find and reuse your favorites — so you can generate compelling drafts in minutes. We also introduced a new exploration tool in Aha! Ideas that uses AI technology to quickly analyze feedback at scale and identify high-level themes.

Over in Aha! Notebooks, we added important capabilities to help you build out your product knowledge hub. From managing all of your notes and whiteboards in one place to exciting new sharing options, achieving stakeholder alignment has never been smoother. As a reminder, notebook functionality is included in all Aha! products at no additional cost — so be sure to read the Aha! Notebooks section below to catch up on the latest enhancements.

You probably noticed that many of your favorite Aha! views — including the features roadmap, Gantt chart, and the Ideas Overview page got a major refresh this quarter. This is part of an ongoing effort to provide you with the best possible user experience. We also delivered several enhancements to help you work more efficiently as you deliver against your roadmap.

Here is a recap of the top features released in Q3 2023:

New in Aha! Roadmaps

From organizing your customer research to setting priority limits and managing recurring to-dos, these new features in Aha! Roadmaps improve the way you plan and deliver against goals.

Tie research together

Use the new Research tab on features, epics, releases, and initiatives to define exactly what customers need. Brainstorm new concepts with notes and whiteboards, review related ideas, and gain additional customer insights via polls, empathy sessions, and in-app feedback. Seeing all of your research in one view provides valuable context into what you are building and why.

As you add new notes and whiteboards from the Research tab, they are automatically nested in a folder named "Research" in the same workspace.

Set clear priority limits

Product teams want to do it all. But your time is limited. The prioritization page already helps you rank work in priority order. Now you can also add priority limit lines to visually communicate what will get done now and what has to wait — a great way to keep the team focused on the work that matters most.

Use one or multiple priority limit lines. Customize the labels to match your prioritization approach.

Manage repeatable tasks

To-dos help you stay on track. From managing deadlines to requesting feedback and preparing for meetings — assigning tasks to yourself and teammates keeps work moving forward. Now you can create recurring to-dos at set intervals — daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or on a custom schedule — so you never miss a due date.

Choose how frequently you want a to-do to repeat.

New in Aha! Ideas

We delivered significant updates to Aha! Ideas to help you spot feedback trends and capture customer requests in a consistent way.

Explore ideas with AI

"It feels like magic!" A customer told us this after trying the new AI exploration tool in Aha! Ideas Advanced. This innovative new functionality lets you quickly analyze all ideas that have been submitted to your portal. Find ideas related to a specific topic, reveal feedback themes, and merge similar ideas.

Open a list report of ideas within a theme and take action — bulk edit to add tags or promote the ideas to features.

See linked customer requests in Salesforce

We updated our integration with Salesforce to give sales and support teams an account-level view of customer ideas. This makes it easier to track what customers are asking for (and the status) without having to open each opportunity or case — so customer-facing teams can provide an excellent customer experience.

Capture ideas consistently

Help customers share their ideas with you. The new idea description template prompts customers to provide the right details. Adding structure and consistency to the way customers describe their ideas helps you get to the heart of what they want — so you can quickly assess new requests and prioritize the best ones.

Your idea description template will also work for ideas submitted via the Salesforce integration and within a dynamic form — further streamlining where and how users can share feedback.

New in Aha! Notebooks

We spoke to nearly 50 customers this quarter to better understand your product documentation needs — informing a number of meaningful enhancements in Aha! Notebooks.

Expand collaboration

We delivered new ways to help you centralize your product documents and collaborate with the broader team. The ability to import existing information from Atlassian Confluence and organize documents into folders helps you get going fast. New sharing options for guests and reviewers empower you to collaborate on notes and whiteboards with business stakeholders — at no additional cost.

Need to give reviewers in your Aha! Roadmaps account the ability to create documents? Assign them an Aha! Knowledge Advanced seat.

Create custom templates

You love using our ever-expanding library of guided templates to showcase your best thinking. Now you can also add your own. This enables you to save your best note and whiteboard designs — sharing them across the team for everyone to use. Need help making your custom templates look even more beautiful? Contact us for design support.

Create a template at the highest level of your workspace hierarchy so it can be shared across underlying workspaces.

Do more with whiteboards

Whiteboards are ideal for refining concepts with the team. We shipped a trove of updates — including inline comments and emoji reactions — so you can quickly gather input from others. Smaller updates, like the ability to lock whiteboard objects, add sticky notes with a single click, and customize tables improve the overall whiteboard experience.

Comments added directly to a sticky note or shape stay with the object even if you move it around the whiteboard.

We hope these enhancements help you find new ways to deliver value as you push to deliver against your 2023 plans.
