Three New Reports to Analyze Customer Feedback by Company and Segment

by Claire George

How do you assess the potential impact of a new idea? The obvious answer is to look at how many customers requested or voted for it. But it can also be useful to look at the number of companies behind those votes. That way you can understand how widespread the need is and make informed prioritization decisions.

We just added three new reports to Aha! Ideas — so you can analyze the value of ideas based on how many organizations and customer segments want them.

Part of what makes Aha! Ideas so powerful is its sophisticated analytics. You can build reports using idea management data such as vote count, category, and product value score to analyze feedback trends across individuals, organizations, and strategic customer segments. With today's update, you now have a new data point at the ready — a field that automatically calculates the number of organizations that voted for an idea.

This new field and new example reports are part of the Aha! Ideas Advanced plan. To take advantage of this update, make sure you have organizations set up in your account. This allows you to see a detailed view of ideas by organization and analyze requests by customer segments. You can also see which organizations requested a specific idea for a broader look at who wants what. And now you also have visibility into how many organizations in total requested an idea with the new idea votes organization vote count field.

Using the new organization vote count field, we created three reports to help you assess which ideas will have the biggest customer impact:

  1. Use a bubble chart to visualize the value of ideas based on total vote and organization count.

  2. Try a list report for a detailed look at the most popular ideas in your ideas portal.

  3. Auto-generate a pivot table to compare top ideas by segment.

Of course, you can add the new organization count field to your own custom reports too. As a reminder, the new field and related reports are available for customers on the Aha! Ideas Advanced plan. If you would like to try this advanced reporting functionality in your Aha! Roadmaps account, email support@aha.io and we will help you get started.

Let's dive in to the new reports:

Visualize the popularity of ideas

Understand how many customers an idea will benefit. The new bubble chart displays ideas based on vote count and organization count. Ideas with a high count for both appear in the upper right of the chart — making it easy to spot the most popular ones. In this example, we are using the product value score to determine the size of each bubble to help us further validate worth to customers.

The bubble size is based on public comments by default — you can easily change this by editing data and choosing a different Sizes field.

Analyze vote counts

Compare the total vote count for each idea with the number of organizations that actually want it. In the example below, we open up the "popular ideas by organization" report. Here the ideas are automatically sorted by organization count. This makes it easy to understand how many customers an idea will benefit — so you can decide which ones to prioritize.

Adjust any example report by adding fields and filters, such as idea status.

Review top ideas by segment

Track the number of companies that requested an idea by segment. The "Top ideas by segment" report includes the first three segments by default — and you can always add more with the segment name filter. This gives you a better sense of what different groups of customers care about the most. And you can drill into each segment for deeper analysis.

You can use multiple organization field filters to create the exact segments you need.

The faster you can understand what matters most to your community, the faster you can meet people's true needs.

Generate these reports to see what your own customers and segments need the most. You can get a lot of new insights with just a couple clicks — no report setup required.
