Just Launched! — Organize Initiatives on the Strategy Roadmap

by Claire George

The strategy roadmap is great for evaluating the timing and progress of critical initiatives. But it can be challenging to clearly present your plans when looking at work across a large portfolio of products. So we want to give you better control over how initiatives are organized — so you can showcase your plans with clarity.

You can now sort initiatives on the strategy roadmap by workspace, start date, end date, rank, status, assignee, or name.

Previously, initiatives were sorted by start date on the strategy roadmap. You could change the order using drag and drop. But these new options for sorting initiatives give you greater control over the way information is displayed, so you can show exactly how you will achieve your product strategy.

Let's look at two ways you can use this enhancement to better visualize your strategy:

Organize initiatives by product

Visualize initiatives across multiple products in one view. Initiatives sorted by product are organized based on your workspace hierarchy — first by parent line and then by workspace. In the example below, we included initiatives from the Fredwin Software product line and three products within it, then sorted by workspace. Coloring the initiative bars by assignee makes it even easier to visualize our strategic plans across the portfolio.

Further customize the order of your initiatives via drag and drop.

Visualize the status of your plans

Need to give a quick update on your product plan? Sort initiatives by status to show how it is progressing — this order will be based on the status workflow applied to your initiatives. Color your roadmap by status as well to clearly highlight which initiatives have been achieved or those that might need extra attention.

Show progress on your roadmap to show the percent of work completed.

Sorting initiatives in different ways makes it easier to create the exact view you need.

Add your saved view to a presentation or share as a webpage to effectively communicate your strategy with others. Now you can feel confident that everyone understands what you need to accomplish and why.
