New Salesforce opportunity report for revenue-driving ideas

by Claire George

Will a customer actually pay for that? You might secretly ask yourself that exact question every time you build something significant that is new. That is because you know that building software is costly. But with our new Salesforce opportunity report, identifying revenue-driving ideas has never been more feasible.

Instantly identify ideas that will drive the most revenue with the new Salesforce opportunity report.

Many of you already use our Salesforce integration to understand the revenue potential of your ideas. You gain important context when you sync your Salesforce accounts with organizations and opportunity data with proxy votes. Before today, you needed advanced reporting chops to analyze opportunity data across all your ideas and zoom in on the most impactful ones.

You can now quickly see the ideas that will drive the most revenue. Find the new Salesforce report in the Research section of the Ideas menu. It will instantly populate three panels with your ideas and opportunity data, highlighting:

  • Opportunity value for each idea stage

  • Ideas by opportunity value and volume

  • Key details surrounding your top ideas, largest opportunities, and shipped ideas

You can further customize the report with additional filters — such as opportunity stage and amount — and custom fields for deeper insights.

To start using this report, you must have the Salesforce integration installed with ideas linked to Salesforce opportunities. The Salesforce opportunity report is part of the Aha! Ideas Advanced plan.

Let's see how each report section helps you quickly identify where to drive growth:

Assess value by stage

Start with the Opportunity value by idea stage chart to gauge potential revenue across your product development process. In the example below, we can see that more than $1 million dollars in opportunity value is sitting in Future consideration. We will take a closer look at prioritizing these ideas on our roadmap.

Add any idea filter you would like to customize your view. We suggest creating dedicated reports focused on lost and open opportunities to determine where you can take action on product gaps.

Identify the highest-impact ideas

Swiftly spot what will deliver the most value. The Ideas by opportunity value chart plots ideas by total opportunity value and number of associated opportunities. This is a great way to spot high-impact ideas that will delight plenty of customers — and potentially bring in lots of revenue at the same time. We have a few like this in the chart below! (Be sure to stay on the lookout for ideas in the upper-left corner of the chart too. These are ideas with fewer, but larger opportunities that could help unlock a major deal.)

Hover over any dot to see an idea's status and category. Click to open the idea's record drawer for further review.

Dive into the details

Explore the data more deeply in the Opportunities section. You will first see a list of your top ideas by total opportunity value. Expand each idea to see more details about each opportunity. Next, review the largest opportunities from Salesforce and all the ideas tied to them. Finally, see opportunities associated with shipped ideas and check on whether opportunities have closed.

Include custom fields captured via the proxy vote form to offer additional context, such as the importance field shown above. Then, use the gear icon on the upper left to select the custom fields for opportunity name and importance.

Equip your team with a better view of idea-related insights — so you can prioritize what is most likely to help close opportunities and drive revenue.

Ready to share the goodness of all this data you now have at your fingertips? Pull this report up during prioritization meetings. Review it with sales leadership to align on the most impactful ideas together. You can share it as a webpage or schedule it to send to your stakeholders for review.
