9 Most Popular Aha! Software Features Released in Q3 2022

by Ron Yang

There are always so many talented people involved in delivering new software functionality that customers actually care about. But what grounds all those people? Working hard, delivering value, and sustaining team happiness. That is the formula for building great products. Nothing is better than empowering teams to solve customer problems with passion and energy. The joy of accomplishment then becomes a motivating force for teams to achieve even more — ultimately fueling business growth. And so the cycle continues.

This quarter, we introduced a number of enhancements to help product teams accomplish even greater outcomes — and be happy doing it.

Let's start by looking at how we improved two key aspects of the planning process — prioritizing what to build next and managing the team's workload. Both are fundamental to product success. The new prioritization pages help you make tough trade-off decisions as you review ideas and decide which features to invest in. And capacity planning improvements drastically improve the way product and engineering teams work together to assess effort and allocate work.

We also introduced a new calendar view in Aha! Roadmaps, Aha! Ideas, and Aha! Develop — so you can organize notes by date. This view serves as a digital notebook. You can create daily notes to capture information on the fly and make date-specific notes, such as meeting agendas and planning sessions, easier to find. We are excited to make this functionality — along with virtual whiteboards — available as a standalone product when Aha! Create launches soon.

Of course, there were plenty of updates for each of our individual products in the mix too. Let's take a look at the highlights from the last few months, starting with Aha! Roadmaps.

New in Aha! Roadmaps

From new prioritization pages to new estimation fields and SSO for shared webpages, these enhancements help you successfully achieve your product roadmap.

Rank what matters most

We launched new prioritization pages in Aha! software to help you efficiently estimate the value of multiple ideas, features, or epics in one view. Adjust scorecard metrics inline and then rank items in priority order. This makes it easier to discuss their relative importance as a team and agree on which ones to implement.

Use filters to select the group of features you want to prioritize.

Better estimate engineering work

Improve your capacity planning workflows. New fields in Aha! Roadmaps and Aha! Develop let you capture three types of estimates — initial, detailed, and actual. We also made it possible for customers on our Enterprise+ plan to view individual estimates by team on the capacity report — so you can manage workloads more effectively.

Share your plans — securely

Sharing roadmaps and reports as a webpage is a great way to communicate your plans internally. But you want to know your valuable data is secure. So we made it possible to configure SSO for shared webpages in Aha! Roadmaps and Aha! Ideas.

New in Aha! Ideas

In Q3 we delivered two key enhancements for customers on our Aha! Ideas Advanced plan to improve the way you manage customer feedback.

View your organization's ideas

Portal users can now see which ideas were submitted or voted for by other people in their organization. This way, you can give your customers greater visibility into what their teams are asking for — so product champions can effectively advocate for their team's needs.

Map Salesforce users

We also enhanced our integration with Salesforce. Map user fields in Salesforce — such as account or opportunity owner — to custom user fields on organization or proxy vote records in Aha! Ideas so you know exactly who to contact internally to learn more about customers requests.

New in Aha! Develop

We delivered a number of enhancements to help engineering teams streamline planning and improve workflows.

Set realistic sprint plans

Calculate sprint capacity based on the availability and velocity of each team member — so you can plan more accurately. This way, you can better manage the team's workload and make sure each sprint is as productive as possible.

Overall sprint capacity is a summation of the individual capacity of each team member.

Quickly identify stalled work

Keep work moving. See how many days work has been in its current status on the workflow board. This helps engineering leaders spot potential issues sooner and get things back on track.

Add the Time in status field to your card layout on the workflow board.

Work efficiently

We also delivered three updates with a single purpose — to delight engineers. The ability to customize cards gives you more control over the information you see, while right-click menus make common actions faster to complete. Save time on manual tasks by syncing feature statuses with your dev tools.

Use right-click menus to quickly update status, open a record in a new tab, copy links, and more.

Pushing for product excellence is part of our team's core DNA — we will continue to find new ways to help you deliver value and sustain team happiness.

What are your biggest challenges related to planning, building, and delivering software? We are already thinking about our roadmap for 2023 — so keep the feedback coming.
