My name is Julie Price — this is what I achieve at Aha!

What is the best way to accelerate your career? Work at a high-growth company that challenges you and puts learning first. An unwavering motivation to continue improving and achieving is also key. The highest performers constantly pursue new ideas and seek to understand the experiences and motivations of the people around them. We can learn a lot from them.

Curiosity fuels growth — which is why we want to bring you personal stories of achievement from talented people. Our hope is that some of their ideas are useful (and maybe even inspirational) as you work to become your best.

Meet Julie Price, director of PM and UX at Aha! She joined Aha! in 2017. Building out delightful user experiences drives her, and she works hard to make sure everyone on the PM/UX team feels welcome to contribute. She also enjoys spending quality time with teammates at company onsites.

Julie lives in Brighton, Ontario, Canada, with her family. Outside of work, she likes to hike, read, and volunteer in the community. Read on to learn more about how she finds meaning and joy in her work — in her own words.

What energizes you most about your role?

"At its core, PM and UX is about crafting experiences that solve tangible customer problems and resonate with users. We do this by applying customer feedback, data-centric insights, and creative thinking. I thoroughly enjoy brainstorming solutions that solve customers' needs with the team. At the same time, it is a fun challenge to be part of a group of product people who are empowering other product folks in turn.

"Working as a team to build products that help people do their jobs every day is energizing."

From my perspective, my role is less about directing and more about inspiring and enabling. There is an immense satisfaction in fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute to the shared goal of building lovable products."

What types of projects do you enjoy working on most?

"For me, the most enjoyable projects are cross-functional and highly collaborative. For example, we recently launched two new products at once: Aha! Whiteboards and Aha! Knowledge. From a PM/UX viewpoint, diving into this type of complex launch is like solving a giant puzzle. Launching products is complicated — but so is getting the Complete Product Experience right. All of that was amplified given that we launched Aha! Whiteboards and Aha! Knowledge at the same time.

Complexity demands innovation. It pushes the team and me to explore solutions that deliver a product customers love, and we learn and iterate throughout the entire process. These projects also remind me of why I chose this career path and reinvigorate my passion for creating impactful user experiences."

What does success look like to you — and how have you found that in your role?

"For me, success is not just about meeting benchmarks or surpassing expectations — it is about nurturing a culture of resilience and continuous improvement on the team. When you create something meaningful together, it is greater than the sum of its parts.

I led Aha! Develop for a couple of years, including its launch. The team always had the Minimum Lovable Product concept in mind. We shipped features quickly, spoke with customers to figure out areas where we excelled or could improve, and iterated quickly. This groundwork — and continuous improvement along the way — led to Aha! Develop users continuing to share anecdotes about how much they love the product to this day."

What has been the most rewarding thing about joining the Aha! team?

"Working with a group of talented and passionate individuals is incredibly rewarding. The Aha! team emanates empathy, supportiveness, and a drive to be successful: a powerful combination! I get to witness how every team's contributions lead to our collective success.

Coming back to Aha! Whiteboards and Aha! Knowledge, we had a runway of weeks to launch two finalized products. Everyone mobilized to deliver these lovable products in time, and the teamwork was wonderful to see. Someone always raised their hand when their teammates needed help.

All of that proves the strength within Aha! itself, and I look forward to achieving even greater successes together in the future."

What advice do you have for an aspiring product leader?

"Leading a team of talented product managers and designers requires a blend of strategic thinking, empathy, collaboration, and continuous learning. But it is important to balance this with a sense of urgency to deliver the product.

"Showing urgency makes sure you deliver on your promises to customers. It also helps team members feel satisfied and accomplished with everything they deliver."

Besides this, note that your journey as a product leader will be unique — embracing your own experiences and learning moments along the way is key to becoming an effective and inspiring leader."

What is the most surprising, but useful career advice someone has given you?

"As the adage goes: 'You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.'"

"The individuals we surround ourselves with directly influence our attitudes, our decisions, and even our success. These people can be anyone from colleagues to family, and they shape the way you think and approach the world. They also help stoke your ambition. That is why I love working here. We show up to work each day alongside empathetic and brilliant team members: everything I strive to be."
