Promote Ideas To Requirements in Aha! Roadmaps

by Claire George

Incremental innovation. Product development teams often use this term to describe small, ongoing enhancements to a product. Over time, these cumulative changes enable you to respond quickly to feedback and deliver what your customers want. With today's update, it is now even easier to bring those smaller suggestions into your roadmap and product plans.

You can now promote an idea to a requirement in Aha! Roadmaps — making it easy to prioritize requests that will neatly fold into an upcoming feature.

You could already promote an idea to your roadmap as an initiative, epic, or feature. But sometimes you have an idea that does not warrant such a large effort. Or you are already planning a feature that an idea fits under. Now you can accurately size the work when you promote the idea from your portal to your plans.

Let's take a closer look at how to promote an idea to a requirement.

Prioritize small-but-mighty ideas

Imagine you are reviewing customer feedback in your ideas portal. You come across a suggestion that is a perfect enhancement to an upcoming feature. Choose whether you want to promote the idea to a new or existing requirement and select the feature that it belongs to. Once promoted, a link is established between the idea and the corresponding requirement.

View the linked idea and total vote count in the related tab in the requirement.

Keep requirement and idea status in sync

Automatically update the status of the original idea based on the status of the requirement. In the example below, as soon as the status of the requirement changes to "Shipped," the status of the related idea also changes to "Shipped." The original submitter — along with anyone who voted or commented on the idea — will get a notification about its new status.

Set status categories in your ideas workflow settings to keep requirement and idea statuses automatically in sync.

Keep moving forward on those small but meaningful improvements. Each one has the potential to bring customers joy.

And remember — every great product, feature, and enhancement starts as an idea. So encourage your community to share all of their suggestions, no matter how big or small. It is your deep curiosity to understand what matters to your customers that empowers you to deliver a truly lovable experience.
