Improve how you manage product dependencies

by Claire George

Tracking product dependencies is a vital part of any complex roadmap work. Dependencies show how work is connected, helping you avoid conflicts and keep delivery on schedule. But even the most carefully crafted plans can fall out of sync when dates shift. Manually updating each downstream record is time-consuming and error-prone. Today's update removes that burden.

Now, you can automatically adjust record dates based on dependency changes — so your plans stay accurate as work evolves.

You can already track dependencies using Gantt charts, roadmaps, reports, and even whiteboards to understand critical timing information. Previously, when an upstream date slipped, you had to manually adjust the dates on every dependent item to realign the plan. Now, you can enable the new Auto-shift dependent records setting so those same dependencies will instantly update for you. This immediately highlights the impact on launch dates — so you can review the plan and make any other updates you need.

This update is available to all Aha! Roadmaps customers, plus Aha! Develop Advanced and Aha! Teamwork Advanced users. To get started, head to the Configure section in your Workspace or Team settings. Enable Auto-shift dependent records to turn on automatic updates for any new dependencies you create.

Need to catch existing records up? Use the new bulk update option. Build a quick list report, select the affected records, and choose Auto-shift dependent record dates from the Bulk edit menu. Dates will only move when there is a true conflict.

Picture this: You are managing a release with multiple features that depend on one another. One gets delayed by a week. Instead of tediously shifting every related item, auto-shift instantly updates the rest — saving you time and keeping the team coordinated.

Enable the setting at the workspace line so all workspaces inherit it automatically.

Your overall release date does not automatically change. This gives you a chance to review the impact and talk through options with your team. Owners and watchers of affected records also get notified when dates shift — so engineers and other teammates stay aligned without any surprises.

Stay in control of your roadmap. Choose how you want to manage dependencies and deliver with confidence.

Plans are always evolving. Dependencies help you see the ripple effects, but keeping everything in sync should not slow you down. With auto-shift enabled, you can be confident that your timeline reflects reality — and stay focused on delivering real value to customers.
