Connect Aha! Develop With Your Favorite Design Tool

by Jeff Tucker

Designs bring clarity to what software engineers need to build. When you have access to wireframes, diagrams, and design files, you can produce fantastic work — faster. So it helps to have the team's latest designs readily available. New extensions in Aha! Develop for Figma, Abstract, Adobe XD, InVision, and Marvel make it easy to embed live design files within your user stories.

Embed a live view of mockups and prototypes from your favorite design tool within Aha! Develop — so you can easily access the latest designs for new functionality.

The ability to preview designs directly in Aha! Develop ensures an efficient handoff from designers to developers. You could already drop a design link into Aha! Develop via a description field, comment, or even a custom URL field. But it can be hard to tell if you have the right link until you open the file. A new live view of the design solves that challenge.

Today's release improves on the existing Figma extension — you can now embed designs into notes, in addition to epics, user stories, and requirements. We have also added new extensions for Abstract, Adobe XD, InVision, and Marvel.

Account administrators can install the new design extensions from our library. It is important to note that the extensions respect the permissions set in your design tools. This means that publicly shared designs will be visible to all users, while privately shared designs require users to be logged into the service.

Here is a closer look at how the new design extensions work:

Add designs to your dev plans

Let's use Adobe XD as our example. Here, we installed the extension and added the Adobe XD custom field to our user story cards. When we paste the URL of the design file into the custom field, a preview immediately displays. This helps the team understand exactly how the new functionality should look in the context of other technical requirements.

Click on the preview to open the file in your design tool.

Having clarity across design and development teams is key to better collaboration and happiness.

Connect your favorite design tool to Aha! Develop to keep designs and dev work in sync. And let us know how else we can streamline your product development process. We are always working on enhancements and new extensions to make your life easier.
