Just Launched! — Capture Feedback Directly on Images and Mockups

by Claire George

“The font size of the sub headline in the bottom half of the page underneath the image on the left needs to be larger.” Woof, what a mouthful. I recently left this feedback in a comment as part of a design review. It would have been so much clearer (and quicker!) if I could have simply added a comment directly to the image. “Increase the size of the font.” So, we decided to make it easier to manage how you collaborate and give feedback on designs.

You can now add and respond to comments directly on images and mockups.

Aha! provides a single place to manage all your product and marketing work, including design images. You can use our mockups tool to create wireframes and diagrams directly in Aha! — or you can attach images to any description field.

Previously, you could use the comments section in the record to capture feedback on images and mockups. But this meant you had to describe exactly which part of the design your comment related to each time. And there was no way to have a threaded conversation with comments and replies.

Today’s update gives you the ability to select a specific part of a design image, add a comment, and see any replies to that specific comment in one place. Here is a closer look at how you can comment directly on images and mockups:

Add comments to image previews When you preview an image file (GIF, JPG, or PNG) or mockup in Aha! you will see two new icons in the top right corner of the screen, which open and close a comments sidebar. Once opened, select any part of the image to start leaving feedback. You can include tables, links, and images in your comment and even hashtag other Aha! records. And of course, you can highlight and format text.

Numbered orange dots show the exact spot on the image where there are comments.

Reply and resolve Design reviews often require input from multiple teammates. And keeping track of all the change requests can be challenging. Inline replies focus the conversation so you can quickly capture related feedback in one place. You can also resolve comments. When you do, the dot on the image turns from orange to green and collapses the comment thread. This helps the team quickly see which comments still need further discussion. You can still view and reply to resolved comments.

Clicking on a dot on the image takes you directly to the related comment.

Get notified (or not) Clicking a notification link opens that specific comment thread. You can @mention team members to include them in the conversation. Watchers and participants on the record are automatically notified when a new comment or reply is added.

Manage your notification preferences in personal settings.

Precise feedback helps product and marketing teams produce amazing work — faster.

So, the next time you want to increase the font size on a specific part of a design, you can simply add a comment. With focused conversations happening, the team can quickly update and keep work moving forward.
