Just Launched! — Enhanced Security Via IP Address Access Control

by Keith Brown

Aha! was built to support millions of users and deliver high performance, reliability, and robust data protection. It was designed with security in mind by an experienced team of software builders.

We know your strategy and roadmaps are extremely important to you and your business, and we take protecting them seriously. After all, our own business and product plans — and the plans for thousands of other companies — are hosted with Aha! as well. This is why every Aha! plan includes secure network communications over HTTPS and data encryption at rest.

In addition to the security features in every Aha! plan, the Enterprise+ plan provides our highest level of service for enterprise customers and large organizations. And today, we are adding another feature specifically for our Enterprise+ customers — IP address access control.

You can now control who can access your Aha! account based on IP addresses. This new feature allows you to limit access to Aha! accounts, notebooks, and ideas portals within your own corporate network or VPN.

IP-based access control gives Aha! administrators the ability to limit who can access their account. It is perfect for larger organizations looking for an extra level of security for their strategy and roadmaps. For example, it is designed to allow you to limit access to Aha! from certain office locations. This includes access to your third-party consultants or partners.

Ready to get started? Aha! makes IP address access control easy. Admins in Enterprise+ accounts can quickly enable these access controls under the Security and single sign-on page in Account Settings.

Note: Once you enable this feature, only users in the defined IP addresses will have access to the application, notebooks, and ideas portals. So, be sure that you have considered any external roadmaps found in notebooks or public ideas portals before enabling this feature.

Once enabled, even if someone compromised a user’s ID and password, they will not be able to access the account unless they also were in an approved IP address range. For example, if they tried to access an Aha! Notebook from an IP address without access, they would be presented with the error message below:

So, be confident that confidential roadmaps with real-time views will only be viewed by key stakeholders and employees. IP address access control allows you to ensure security on roadmaps and key plans without any additional user management overhead.
