Get Your Data Out of Rally and Into Aha! Develop

by Jeff Tucker

How do you evaluate a new product? Some people schedule a demo. Others read the documentation. If you are anything like us, you probably want to quickly try it for yourself. The best way to do this is with your data. That is why we make it easy for you to bring in existing work items from the tools you use. You could already import records into Aha! Develop from Jira, Trello, and GitHub.

With today's update, you can now import information into Aha! Develop from Rally.

The Rally importer can be installed by an account administrator right from your backlog on the sprint planning or workflow board in Aha! Develop. Once installed, any user can select a Rally project, view the user stories, and start moving work from Rally to Aha! Develop.

Drag and drop records from Rally onto your sprint or workflow board in Aha! Develop. The new record in Aha! Develop is just that — brand new. So it is not linked to its original record in Rally. That means you can change any of the details in Aha! Develop without interfering with the original record. This makes it easy to field-test features in Aha! Develop, such as collaborative editing and extensions from the extension library. (Planning poker is a personal favorite.)

As you can see below, the Rally importer makes it easy to start working in Aha! Develop right away, while still giving you total control over the work you import.

Quickly find the user stories you want to import using filters, such as project, schedule state, and query.

Go ahead and install the Rally importer extension today and try Aha! Develop with your own data.

We hope you enjoy setting up the perfect development environment for your team. Bring in a few records from Rally, plan a sprint, and collaborate on user stories. When you are ready to move more work into Aha! Develop, run a CSV import to add records in bulk. We are also here to give you a demo or lend a helping hand if you prefer.
