Just Launched! — Three New Administrator Roles

by Jessica Groff

Administrators play an important role in making the use of any application a success. That is because they are the ones who customize it in a way that meets the team’s needs — whether it’s configuring the account profile, setting up authentication, or handling billing and the allocation of seats.

We continue to rapidly grow and serve more and more of the world’s best-known and largest companies. Over the last few months, it became clear that we needed to provide more flexible ways to administer an Aha! account. Why? Because many of you kept telling us. So, today we introduced three new Administrator roles.

You now have the ultimate flexibility to add more administrators to your account and specify what they can control and access. This helps separate key roles and improves your ability to allocate responsibilities to the right people. We did this by dividing Account Settings into three sections: Account, Billing, and Customizations.

Here’s how it works:

Easily configure permissions Now when you add or edit a user’s level of product access, you can also select from three Administrator sections. And if you are already an Administrator in an Aha! account today, nothing changed — you automatically inherited permissions to Account, Billing, and Customizations.

Administrator permissions are broken out into three sections to give you more control.

Account permissions Do you need to give your IT team access to configure single sign-on? Grant them access as an Administrator to the Account section. Now you can bring others in to help — without sharing product or billing information.

With new Administrator user permissions, you maintain control over who has access to your most sensitive information.

Billing permissions Speaking of billing information, you can now give your finance team (or whoever handles billing) access to the distinct Billing section. They can keep track of users, update payment information, and view past invoices — all without access to your strategy or roadmap information.

To create an Aha! user specifically for billing, grant access to the Billing section without assigning the user rights to any products.

Customizations permissions One of the best things about Aha! is the flexibility you have to make the application match how you manage products and get work done. But all that flexibility can be burdensome if your team has to come to you each time they want to change a configuration. You can now share ownership of Aha! product configurations and workflows, while restricting access to sensitive information such as security and billing.

The Customizations section contains everything your team needs to make your Aha! account match the way you work.

And remember that in Enterprise and Enterprise+ accounts, you can grant Reviewers and Viewers Administrator permissions at no additional cost. This means that bringing in the IT teams, security groups, and finance people who need to help administer the account costs you nothing.

In many ways, managing any application takes teamwork. Sometimes you need input from teams across the business, but also need to make sure each group is free to focus on what they are responsible for. With the new Administrator roles, managing Aha! just got even easier.
