Coming Soon! — A Fresh New Way to View Detailed Information in Aha!

You can pack a lot of data into an Aha! record. From goals and initiatives to ideas, features, and requirements, you can capture everything needed to define your work and keep it moving forward. Depending on how you customize your workspace, you might have lots of custom fields on features. Or your team might rely heavily on comments and to-dos. And while you love having all that information at your fingertips, it can be easy to get lost.

We are excited to share a preview of streamlined record drawer and details views — as well as a new application font.

We love building new functionality that makes a big impact on the way you use Aha! to set strategy, build beautiful roadmaps, and share your plans with the team. Over the last few years, we have brought you sophisticated capabilities — such as capacity planning and collaborative text editing. But we also know how important it is to continually improve what we have already built.

So we set out to create a better way to organize information in record drawer and details views. In addition to the more modern look and feel, you can easily show and hide data to reduce visual noise while you are working. There are performance benefits too — especially for accounts with lots of data on each record. These views load super fast. And we updated the application font for improved text legibility.

But before we go deeper into the details of what is new, let's go over the timeline for the upcoming improvements. Starting today, you can preview the new experience in your account. Below, you can see how to preview the new UI using a toggle in the drawer of each record. This toggle is unique to each user — so you can opt in and out as often as you like.

Once enabled, you can try out the new experience across all major record types — including goals, initiatives, releases, epics, features, and ideas. We are still applying the new designs to a few record types, such as personas and competitor profiles. Those will be added to the preview soon.

The new experience will be released — and will be permanent — for all users on September 30, 2020. As part of that announcement, we will also deliver additional record layout customization capabilities. This will give you even more control over the way you organize and view information.

Let's take a closer look at what you will see when you preview the new experience:

Organized drawer design

Tabs make it easy to find important details within each record. All of your record information is still here, but Aha! dynamically adjusts the visible tabs to fit your browser window. Click the More options button on the right side of the tabs bar to find additional details like history or related records in the overflow menu.

Concise field layout

Scan for important information in the overview tab. We improved the layout of default and custom record fields, adding more whitespace so you can quickly view and update information such as status, assignee, goal and initiative names, and due date. Empty fields are automatically hidden to give you a more concise view. You can instantly reveal those empty fields to capture critical data.

Focused details page

The details view is ideal for when you want to immerse yourself in your work. The tabs persist for a consistent experience as you move from drawer to details. Use the overview sidebar on the right to access details, then collapse it to focus on the tabs. You can also expand the sidebar on the left to view a list of features contained within the same release.
