AI Builder Day Contest Rules
These AI BUILDER DAY CONTEST RULES AND TERMS (“Rules”) govern your participation in the AI Builder Day event (“Event”) and contest (“Contest”) hosted and sponsored by Aha! Labs Inc. (“Aha!”) and Pragmatic Institute, LLC (“Pragmatic”) (together, the “Sponsors”). By participating in the Event, You agree to be bound by these Rules.
These Rules, together with any applicable rules, forms, or contest-related documentation provided by the Sponsors, constitute the entire agreement between You and the Sponsors regarding the Event and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, understandings, and agreements, whether oral or written, between You and the Sponsors with respect to the subject matter hereof. No representation, warranty, or promise not expressly contained in these Rules shall be binding upon the Sponsors.
1. Eligibility requirements
Except as otherwise listed below, all Event participants who have reached the age of majority in the relevant jurisdiction and attended the kickoff on Sept. 3, 2026, are eligible to participate in the Contest.
The following persons are not eligible to participate:
Sponsor owners, directors, employees, and contractors
Judges for the Event
The immediate family members and/or household members of the above persons
You are responsible for ensuring that your participation in the Contest is permitted under the laws of the jurisdiction of your residency and applicable employer or institutional policies. Participation in the Contest shall be void where prohibited or restricted by applicable law.
2. No purchase necessary
No entry fee, purchase, or proof of purchase is required to enter or win the Contest. A purchase or payment of any kind will not increase your chances of winning.
3. Participation and submissions
You may participate individually, or in a team of up to three eligible persons. Each team shall be given 14-day free trial access to Aha! Builder accounts and provided with AI credits sufficient to build a Minimum Lovable application. Your access to the account will be subject to the Aha! Terms of Service (https://www.aha.io/legal/terms_of_service).
Each team must submit a video recording demonstrating its application no later than Monday, Sept. 13 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. By submitting an entry, You represent and warrant for yourself and on behalf of your team that your submission is your team’s original work, and that You have all right, title, and interest in your submission.
Sponsors reserve the right to reject late submissions and submissions that are corrupted, infringing, offensive, or fraudulent as determined in the Sponsors’ sole discretion. Sponsors are not responsible for any technical, hardware, software, telephone, or other communications malfunctions, errors, or failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network connections; or incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by Sponsors, You, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Event or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the submissions in the Event.
Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any team for violations of these Rules or any activities that, in the Sponsors’ sole and reasonable discretion, constitute fraud, manipulation, or unfair competition.
4. Judging process, winner selection, and prizes
All entries shall be evaluated by a panel of judges to be announced during the Event. You are responsible for informing Sponsors before the Event if one or more of the judges is known to You such that it may create a conflict of interest.
The judges shall select a winner and runner-up in the following categories:
Best business application
Best consumer application
Most innovative user experience
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the decisions of the judges in scoring, deliberation, voting, and winner selection are final and binding and may not be appealed or contested.
5. Prize terms
Each member of the winning team in each category shall receive:
Trophy: A physical award that commemorates the Event and winning it
From Aha!: A six-month subscription to Aha! Builder (approx. retail value is $744). The term begins on activation by the prize winner and expires automatically at the end of six months unless Aha! and the prize winner separately agree to continue service.
From Pragmatic Institute: Two golden tickets (approx. retail value of each ticket is $645-$1,295)
Every member of the runner-up team in each category shall receive one golden ticket (approx. retail value is $645-$1,295).
Winners shall be announced before the end of the Event. Sponsors shall provide details to each prize winner by email.
All prizes are nontransferable, nonrefundable, and not redeemable for cash. Sponsors reserve the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the prize offering, or to substitute a prize of equal or lesser value, where necessary due to legal, operational, or eligibility issues.
Each prize winner is solely responsible for all federal, state, local, or other taxes, and any legal requirements associated with the acceptance or use of the prize. A prize winner may choose to decline acceptance of the prize, in which case the prize will be forfeited and not redistributed or reawarded.
Any classes, training, or other benefits provided by Pragmatic are separate from the Aha! software prize and are subject to Pragmatic’s terms, eligibility rules, and tax treatment.
6. Intellectual property and publicity rights
Sponsors may use your name, image, and likeness, as well as your submission materials, to promote the Event, the Contest, and the Sponsors unless you notify the Sponsors at the contact emails below before submitting your materials that you would like to opt out of this.
Except for the license provided above, your team shall retain all intellectual property rights to your submissions and user-generated content.
Aha! shall terminate access to your Aha! Builder account and will remove any unused AI credits associated with the account after the 14-day trial period ends. You will have the opportunity to download any content or code generated from your Aha! Builder account, or to purchase an Aha! Builder license to continue access.
Any personal information collected from You by Aha! and Pragmatic will be used, disclosed, and protected consistent with the Aha! Privacy Policy (https://www.aha.io/legal/privacy_policy) and the Pragmatic Privacy Policy (https://www.pragmaticinstitute.com/privacy/), respectively.
7. Waiver, limitation of liability, and indemnity
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS FREE EVENT, YOU HEREBY RELEASE, WAIVE, AND DISCHARGE SPONSORS, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, OR CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT, THE CONTEST, YOUR USE OF ANY PRIZES, OR ANY OTHER ASPECT OF THE EVENT, EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT SUCH CLAIMS ARISE FROM THE SPONSORS’ GROSS NEGLIGENCE, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, OR LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE WAIVED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
THE SPONSORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF YOUR PARTICIPATION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE SPONSORS' TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THIS EVENT EXCEED THE VALUE OF ANY PRIZE AWARDED TO YOU, OR, IF NO PRIZE IS AWARDED, ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Sponsors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your breach of these Rules, including any representations or warranties; (b) any claim that your submission infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party; or (c) any unlawful or non-compliant conduct by You during the Event or Contest.
