How we reduced product management overhead using Aha!

We had a problem

Our product team always struggled to connect our daily tasks to the big picture. There was no easy way to link what we were developing to the overall company strategy. In fact, this was a much more high-level problem — there was no easy way to keep our product team on track towards the same shared goals and initiatives. Tracing our development tickets back to original requests was a convoluted, manual process. As a result, the roadmaps we presented became disconnected from our Jira reality. We had no means of syncing the two together. This evolved into a big issue that negatively impacted our roadmaps.

Aha! as a solution

Aha! offers a spot-on data model that is truly aligned to how businesses work. It also offers the ability to “translate” business requests into development tickets using one single system. The result is a series of highly flexible, beautifully executed reports that are tailored for any audience.

Aha! helped us organize layers of features and initiatives which were lost in an insufficiently flat Confluence and Jira structure.

As with many product teams, ours is expected to present several roadmaps for diverse audiences. Aha! allows us to create as many notebooks as we need and use them to present our roadmap with as many or as few data points as each audience wants to see. I can’t overestimate how valuable this is.

Life is good

The quality of our product features has improved dramatically thanks to Aha! The tool empowers us to rank each feature using a customized score that reflects MyJar’s core business metrics. We can see at a glance which features will offer the most high level value to our product, customers, and business objectives. This gives us clarity to prioritize the most impactful features on our roadmap.

Aha! has transformed our work by helping us all see the big picture. The “why” of what we do has never been clearer. And that gives our whole team a shared sense of mission to show up each day and power through using Aha!

Our development efforts have more clarity as well. Jira is now cleared of half-baked ideas; it only contains fully formed features and requirements. And reporting overhead has decreased dramatically. Now, we can run reports for almost every product/project-related meeting using Aha! We save a lot of time doing this that we can direct into our product planning.
