May 17, 2017 email notifications update
Email notifications help keep your team updated. But instant notifications for every change made during the product planning process can be overwhelming at times. Plus, not everyone on your product team wants to track every detail. So, we are giving you more flexibility and the ability to set notification preferences. This has been one of the most popular requests via our ideas portal.
On May 24, 2017, you will be able to customize how and when email notifications are sent. This update will affect:
Which notifications you receive
How often you receive them
What content is included in the notifications
You will be able to set your preferences by product and choose how you are notified. The following sections explain how notifications in Aha! work today and how they will be improved.
Control notifications based on your involvement
Currently, we send notifications for updates on records that you are assigned to, commented on or subscribed to the comment thread, or have been set as a watcher. With this update, each user will be able to set their preferences based on their level of involvement. The two categories of notifications that you can set your personal preferences for include:
Participating: Be notified of updates to records that have been assigned to you or comment streams that you are subscribed to.
Watching: Be notified of updates on records that you have been added to as a watcher.
Set notification frequency within each category
Currently, notifications are sent instantly when changes have been made. These new capabilities will allow you to choose whether you would like to be emailed instantly, hourly, daily, or not at all for each product and category.
Any preferences you set at the product line level will be inherited by the products within them. Or, you can override each product's notifications individually.
Please note: If you are assigned a To-do you will continue to be notified instantly, and those emails will not be affected by your notification frequency preferences.
Quickly identify important changes
Currently, notifications are record-specific and include details from the entire record with highlighting to show what changed. With this update, notifications will outline the specific changes made and will no longer include the full details of the record that were not modified. This will make it easier to understand exactly what was changed at a quick glance.
How to prepare for these updates
By default, all notifications settings will be set to instant. You will need to decide how frequently you wish to receive updates for records and adjust your preferences for each product accordingly. You can begin making these adjustments on May 24, 2017.
