Just Launched! — Reorder Cards by Priority on the Kanban Board

by Claire George

Visibility and clarity. These are two key characteristics of high-performing teams. When everyone understands exactly what needs to get done and in what order, they can work together to make it happen. This is why many of you love using kanban principles and the workflow board in Aha! to visualize who is working on what and the status.

Now you can arrange cards in priority order on the workflow board so that teammates know what to tackle first.

If you already use the workflow board, then you know it is a great way to visualize work by status. You can manage master features, features, or requirements in this kanban view and instantly see who is working on what. (Depending on your workspace type, you might need to enable the workflow view to see it in your navigation.)

Cards are arranged based on how they are ordered on another page by default. For example, features follow the same order as the features board — by release date and then by rank within each release. With today’s enhancement, you can drag and drop cards to change that order on the workflow board without changing the order on the features board.

Here is how you can use the enhanced workflow board to prioritize work:

Visualize work by status Choose what type of record you want to display, then refine your view. You can apply filters (such as users, workspace, and release name), choose which workflow statuses are visible, and customize card layout and capacity planning information. Here, we are showing features from multiple releases without swimlanes so we can see everything assigned to the team.

Save your filtered view so you can easily view it again and share it at any time.

Save your filtered view so you can easily view it again and share it at any time.

Order by priority and assignee Now you are ready to move cards into priority order in each status column. In the example below, we prioritize work in one column without focusing on who is responsible for what. Then, we group by assignee to see the prioritized work each person needs to do.

Anyone who views your workflow board will see the same card order.

There is beauty in order — every team benefits from clear priorities.

Our goal is to help teams work together even more productively. This keeps big plans on track. We hope this enhancement brings even more clarity to your work.
